I switched (back) to Linux

After nearly a decade I'm revisiting desktop Linux to see if it's finally ready to take on Microsoft and Apple.

This is a companion discussion topic for the original entry at https://ramblingpolymath.com/2021/04/i-switched-to-linux/

I did the Linux desktop thing nearly two-decade ago before switching to macOS. It’s better than it was but still lacking compared to macOS and Windows.

However, Linux has been my server operating system of choice since 1994. I was once exclusive to RedHat, but I’ve used Ubuntu for several years. I don’t use any Microsoft products. My current blog is a Ubuntu VPS on Digital Ocean.

I have a workflow and stack of applications for macOS that works and is very productive. I have no interest in these sorts of OS switching experiments. It’s non productive in the short run and doesn’t improve quality of output in the long run.
