Other than at work, I don’t use any Microsoft products. Apple’s Pages, Numbers and Keynote are all I use and are cross-platform (iOS/iPadOS). My kids used Google Docs/Sheets in high school and now in college. But almost all of my writing is done in markdown in a text editor, such as Byword or the markdown editor in WordPress. I’ve done it for so long I can’t even remember when I started. Probably around 2013, but it may have been sooner.

Also, checkout, MacDown an open-source Markdown editor for macOS.
